Position Quality Assurance / Quality Control Technician

Alternate Concepts, Inc. (ACI) and Herzog Transit Services, Inc. (HTSI), collectively the ACI/Herzog Joint Venture, along with our key subcontractors are seeking applicants for the Hudson Bergen Light Rail operation located in Hudson County, New Jersey. ACI was founded in 1989 with their corporate office located in Boston, MA and Herzog founded in 1969 with corporate offices located in St. Joseph, MO and Fort Worth, TX.

Combined our companies provide FRA/FTA compliant transportation, equipment maintenance, dispatching, right-of-way maintenance, facility maintenance, and dispatching services for 20 distinct client properties. In addition to the Joint Venture being the upcoming operator/maintainer of the Hudson Bergen Light Rail, we currently jointly operate the Tren Urbano heavy rail service in San Juan, Puerto Rico and the CTDOT's Hartford intercity service in Connecticut.

ACI/Herzog Joint Venture, along with our key subcontractors, are currently seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance / Quality Control Technician to join our team.

The hourly pay for this full-time position is between $45.00 - $50.00.

The Quality Assurance / Quality Control Technician will ensure compliance with safety, quality, and maintenance standards within our train maintenance facility and yards. The successful candidate will conduct audits, inspections, track tools calibration, and training and manage non-compliances to uphold operational excellence and regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Quality Audits and Inspections

  • Conduct internal audits of maintenance processes to ensure adherence to industry standards and company policies.
  • Perform visual and functional inspections on train components, tools, and maintenance activities.
  • Conduct incoming inspections on products received from vendors and update the certificate reports log.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve maintenance processes, ensuring quality objectives are met.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of all the equipment and tools within the facility.
  • Conduct daily in-process quality audits on the maintenance floor.
  • Identify non-conformities, document the findings, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.

Tools Calibration and Equipment Verification

  • Verify and calibrate maintenance tools and test equipment to ensure compliance with required specifications.
  • Maintain up-to-date calibration records and schedules, ensuring timely calibration.

Non-Compliance Management and Corrective Actions

  • Investigate quality issues, deviations, and non-compliances, identifying root causes and recommending corrective measures.
  • Work closely with the maintenance teams to implement and verify corrective and preventive actions.
  • Track and report non-conformance trends to management for continuous improvement.

Process and Compliance Monitoring

  • Ensure all maintenance employees follow approved procedures, the company quality standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of quality assurance procedures.

Training and Documentation

  • Develop and maintain training materials and documentation related to quality and compliance.
  • Assist in training maintenance personnel on quality procedures, inspection techniques, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure all quality records, audit reports and inspection logs are accurately documented and easily accessible.

Other Responsibilities

  • Travel to other job sites as assigned to identify problems and suggest solutions.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and adhere to established quality and safety procedures.
  • Perform other quality duties as assigned by the Manager.
  • Familiarize yourself with and follow all policies, procedures, and work instructions, including but not limited to the Employee Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures, Original Equipment Manufacturer Manuals, and Safety Manual.
