Lead Applications Development Engineer; Angular​/Boot - Vice President

This Lead Applications Development Engineer – VP level – supports the Wealth Investment Technology Advisory and Brokerage Organization. The role focuses on strategic platform and product development for Wealth Advisory, including key initiatives such as the Black Rock Portfolio Solutions partnership, Unified Managed Accounts, and an integrated portfolio analytics solution. The position demands deep technical expertise, end‑to‑end development leadership, and a strong commitment to AI and prompt‑based engineering practices.

• Partner with multiple management teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions and identify necessary system enhancements for new products and process improvements.
• Resolve high‑impact problems and projects through in‑depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards.
• Provide expertise in applications programming and ensure designs adhere to enterprise architectural blueprints.
• Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow to develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.
• Develop comprehensive knowledge of how business areas (architecture, infrastructure, etc.) integrate to achieve business goals.
• Analyze issues and develop innovative solutions with interpretive thinking.
• Serve as advisor or coach to mid‑level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary.
• Assess risk in business decisions, safeguarding the firm’s reputation and ensuring compliance with laws, rules, policies, and ethical standards.
• Lead the design, development, and implementation of multi‑year strategic initiatives, including Black Rock Portfolio Solutions, Unified Managed Accounts, and a portfolio analytics solution integrated into the end‑to‑end ecosystem.
• Collaborate with product management, business stakeholders, and architecture teams to define technical roadmaps aligned with strategic objectives and deliver high‑quality, scalable solutions.
• Drive the resolution of high‑impact technical challenges and complex business problems through evaluation and innovative development.
• Serve as a hands‑on engineer, leading front‑to‑back development with modern technologies such as Angular, Spring Boot, Kafka, and Oracle.
• Guide applications programming to adhere to enterprise architectural blueprints and best practices.
• Develop and enforce coding standards, testing methodologies, debugging processes, and deployment strategies across the development lifecycle.
• Champion the adoption and integration of AI tools and prompt‑based engineering to enhance development efficiency and drive innovation.
• Maintain a keen interest in emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential application to optimize processes and deliver business value.
• Mentor and coach mid‑level developers to promote technical growth and a culture of engineering excellence.
• Collaborate across technology and business functions (architecture, infrastructure, operations) to ensure seamless integration and successful delivery of solutions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies, escalating, managing, and reporting control issues transparently.

• 6‑10 years of progressive experience in applications development, focusing on hands‑on, end‑to‑end engineering.
• Experience with modern web frameworks (Angular), backend technologies (Spring Boot), messaging platforms (Kafka), and relational databases (Oracle).
• Demonstrated success delivering complex, multi‑year technology projects in financial services or wealth management.
• Practical familiarity with AI tools and prompt‑based engineering.
• Strong understanding of system architecture, design patterns, and scalable application development.
• Exceptional leadership, project management, and problem‑solving skills.
• Clear, concise, and effective written and verbal communication.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
