Job Description

This job is responsible for defining and leading the engineering approach for complex features to deliver significant business outcomes. Key responsibilities of the job include delivering complex features and technology, enabling development efficiencies, providing technical thought leadership based on conducting multiple software implementations, and applying both depth and breadth in a number of technical competencies. Additionally, this job is accountable for end-to-end solution design and delivery.

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced hands‑on senior engineer with proven ability writing elegant and maintainable python code as well as investment banking experience in the global markets space. The member will be working closely with various technology teams and business partners (Middle office, Front office, Business Supervision Officers, Finance) to build out Risk application for the FICC lines of businesses.

• Ensures that the design and engineering approach for complex features are consistent with the larger portfolio solution
• Define the technology tool stack for the solution and evaluate and adapt new testing tool/framework/practices for team(s)
• Enables team(s)/applications with CI/CD capabilities and engages with other technical stakeholders pertaining to efficient functioning of CI-CD pipeline
• Guides and influences team(s) on design and best practices for high code performance – pairing, code reviews
• Provides end-to-end delivery of complex features, including automation, for either a single team or multiple teams, at the program level
• Conducts research, design prototyping and other exploration activities such as evaluating new toolsets and components for release management, CI/CD, and features
• Works with stakeholders to establish high‑level solution needs and with architects for technical requirements
• Analysing business requirements and design solutions in the target architecture as well as technically leading more junior developers. The primary technologies are python.
• Full engagement in the development lifecycle of the project including supporting UAT and regression testing.
• Experienced in technical design with a strong background/track record of delivering large scale platforms.
• Excellent problem‑solving, design, development, debugging skills and enjoys solving complex technical problems.

• 5+ years of software engineering experience

• Strong understanding of programming paradigms such as distributed architectures and working with large data sets
• Develop, test and deliver complex software requirements to accomplish business goals
• Solid knowledge of contemporary development processes, build environments and testing tools
• Ideally 5+ years of experience in the Financial Services industry
• Good working knowledge of front office risk in any business within Global Markets
• Good working knowledge of Python

• Knowledge or experience of agile development (e.g. XP, SCRUM, Kanban) and continuous integration
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to work closely with other technology teams, business groups including trading, finance, technology and middle office

Degree in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics or relevant analytical degree

Location:

US - NJ - Jersey City - 525 Washington Blvd (NJ2525). Pay range: $ – $ annualized salary. Offers determined based on experience, education and skill set. Discretionary incentive eligible – eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan.
