Python Developer – Global Markets Technology / Trading Platform Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Python Developer to join a Global Markets Technology team supporting a critical trading platform and related applications within a Fixed Income / Capital Markets environment.

The ideal candidate will be a strong hands-on Python developer with experience building and supporting trading applications, coupled with a solid understanding of Fixed Income products, Capital Markets, and the trade lifecycle.

This role will focus on developing, enhancing, and supporting Python-based applications that enable trading workflows and integrate with other systems across the Global Markets technology ecosystem. The developer will work closely with traders, business analysts, quantitative teams, product owners, and other technology teams to deliver reliable and scalable solutions.

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain Python applications supporting the trading platform.
• Develop technology solutions supporting Global Markets and Fixed Income trading workflows.
• Build and maintain services, APIs, integrations, and backend components used by trading applications.
• Work closely with traders and business stakeholders to understand trading requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Support the end-to-end trade lifecycle
  , including trade capture, enrichment, validation, processing, and downstream distribution.
• Develop and maintain integrations between the platform and other internal trading, market data, risk, and operational systems.
• Develop automated processes and workflows supporting trading and capital markets functions.
• Work with financial data feeds and develop processes for ingesting, transforming, validating, and distributing market and trade data.
• Troubleshoot application, data, integration, and production issues within a time-sensitive trading environment.
• Analyze application performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
• Participate in application design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested Python code using sound software engineering practices.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to development standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with distributed technology teams and understand upstream/downstream system dependencies.
• Support production applications and resolve issues that may directly impact trading operations.

Python

• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
• Experience building production-quality Python applications.
• Ability to develop clean, scalable, maintainable, and testable code.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Experience with Python libraries and frameworks commonly used in enterprise applications.
• Experience developing applications that process large volumes of financial or transactional data is highly desirable.

• Experience developing, enhancing, or supporting applications on or integrated with the trading platform

• Understanding of trading workflows and application architecture.
• Experience working with trading-related services, interfaces, data flows, and integrations.
• Ability to troubleshoot application issues and understand dependencies across the trading ecosystem.
• Experience supporting production trading applications and time-sensitive processes.

• Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs

• Strong understanding of application-to-application communication.
• Experience working with distributed systems and enterprise integrations.
• Understanding of data flows between trading, market data, risk, and downstream systems.
• Experience with messaging or event-driven architectures is a plus.

Strong Global Markets / Capital Markets experience is preferred.
