SUMMARY:The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for managing the organization's accounts receivable processes to ensure the timely collection of outstanding balances, accurate cash application, and effective credit management. This role maintains customer account records, monitors delinquent accounts, supports collection efforts, and recommends process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce financial risk. Working closely with internal departments and external partners, the Accounts Receivable Specialist provides accurate reporting, supports accounting initiatives, and helps maintain the financial integrity of the organization.

This is an on-site role at our Jessup, MD facility and the work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain timely and accurate collections of accounts receivable balances; ensure timely posting of cash receipts.
  • Assign responsibility for legal action and collection of delinquent accounts; interface with outside collection agencies as needed.
  • Establish, monitor, and update customers' credit activities.
  • Audit delinquent accounts; monitor and manage efforts being taken before assigning bad debt status.
  • Review, analyze, modify, and implement efficient and effective accounts receivable processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Interface with other team members to exchange information and update account records.
  • Prepare and present accounts receivable reports as required.
  • Assist with special accounting projects as needed.
  • Perform data entry and spreadsheet management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, Aptean)
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls
  • 3+ years of experience working in accounts payable or general accounting
  • Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word
