Main Purpose of JobThis position is responsible for shelving incoming files from State agencies that are being returned following a records request (refiles) or being added to already-transferred boxes at the State Records Center (interfiles). Additionally, this position supports the facility’s incoming records transfers and outgoing records disposals as required.
Position DutiesDuties for this position include but are not limited to:
- Insert incoming refiles and interfiles into the appropriate shelf locations.
- Review and inventory all incoming refiles and interfiles submitted by State agencies.
- Rehouse refiles and interfiles that do not fit in their original shelf locations.
- Support the Records Transfer Specialists by assisting in the handling of record center boxes during transfer and disposal processes at the discretion of the State Records Center Administrator.
- Carries out other duties as assigned.
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
- Two years of experience performing warehouse work.
- Experience handling government records.
- Experience with warehouse technology, including personnel lifts and pallet jacks.
- Ability to work independently and multitask.
- Ability to work well with other team members.
- Must be able to lift 50lb. boxes.
- Must be comfortable working at heights of 20 ft.
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled.
The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
