Purpose of the Position

To perform service—including preventive maintenance, safety checks, corrective actions, upgrades, and refurbishment—on Hiab equipment at assigned locations, following Manager’s instructions and contributing to productive customer relationships while adhering to best practice and safety standards.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities Technical and Product Knowledge
  • Stay up-to-date with technical developments via internal service bulletins and technical courses instructed by the District Service Manager.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant equipment specifications.
Managing the Customer
  • Respond to customers as instructed to maximize satisfaction.
  • Follow Hiab Customer Satisfaction Guidelines.
Risk Management
  • Protect self and others; follow applicable safety rules and environmental requirements.
  • Alert the District Service Manager if equipment safety is jeopardized.
  • Respect and protect Hiab and third‑party property.
Service Process
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, report, plan, and conduct service or repair as instructed.
  • Submit regular reports in the specified format.
  • Maintain adequate documentation and records.
Commercial Awareness & Cost Effectiveness
  • Plan and manage time and resources for maximum benefit of Hiab and the customer.
  • Make judgments on the most cost‑effective approach to service.
  • Ensure accurate invoicing and protect the security of spare parts.
New Business Opportunities
  • Recognize sales opportunities and communicate them to the District Service Manager.
Continuous Improvement
  • Provide feedback to support continuous quality improvement.
  • Participate in innovative thinking to improve service efficiency.
  • Coach/tutor junior colleagues and trainees as necessary.
  • Conduct self‑assessments that promote a positive image of the Hiab brand and comply with the Quality System.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Accountabilities
  • Maintain a 1‑year DOT Medical Card.
  • Be mobile, adaptable, and capable of working under variable physical site conditions.
  • Hold a qualification from a higher vocational school (below Graduate/BSc level) in mechanical engineering, hydraulics, electrics, electronics, or equivalent experience.
  • Possess working technical knowledge of Hiab product lines (mechanicals, hydraulics, electrics, electronics).
  • Understand diesel engines and hydraulic drive systems.
  • Be fluent in the local language and have working knowledge of English (spoken and written).
  • Have operator licenses for all equipment used in accordance with local requirements.
  • Maintain records in compliance with agreements.
  • Know and comply with Hiab USA operating and technical procedures and workplace instructions.
  • Understand, monitor, and comply with all safety and environmental requirements.
  • Own required tools.
Education
  • Minimum high school diploma/GED required.
  • Technical or secondary college preferred.
Working Experience
  • 3+ years of mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical operations preferred.
