The Transportation Operations Supervisor is a full-time, on-site role based in Jessup, MD. This position oversees daily transportation activities, including dispatching, routing, and scheduling deliveries to ensure on-time, efficient service to Giant Food locations. The supervisor monitors fleet performance, tracks KPIs, and reviews reports to identify issues, optimize routes, and control costs. Day-to-day responsibilities include directing transportation staff, providing coaching and feedback, addressing operational challenges, and ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and company policies.
The role also collaborates with warehouse, store, and vendor partners to resolve service issues and support continuous improvement in transportation operations.
- Candidates should possess strong Supervisory Skills, including team leadership, coaching, and performance management.
- Candidates should possess skills in Operations and Operations Management to oversee routing, scheduling, and transportation workflows.
- Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills to interpret data, monitor KPIs, and support decision-making and process improvements.
- Candidates should possess clear and professional Communication skills for working with drivers, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
- Experience in transportation, logistics, or distribution environments, ideally within retail or grocery sectors.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, safety standards, and basic fleet management practices.
- Ability to work on-site in Jessup, MD, with flexibility for varying schedules based on operational needs.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in supply chain, logistics, or business is beneficial.
Pay range is between $68-$76/year with a potential 10% bonus each year.
