How you make a differenceThe Physician Assistant provides comprehensive medical care to inmates under medical leadership supervision. Responsibilities include evaluating and treating acute and emergency complaints, participating in administrative meetings, supporting cross‑coverage needs, collaborating with physicians, mental health professionals, ensuring documentation aligns with protocols, maintaining patient privacy, contributing to quality improvement, and coordinating emergency care and psychiatric assessment support.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver acute and emergency medical care in accordance with protocols
- Consult with physicians and manage patient transfers when clinically indicated
- Document all findings using the S.O.A.P. method and EMR systems
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and participate in quality improvement efforts
- Provide cross‑coverage and support psychiatric stability assessments
- Education
:
Completion of an accredited PA education program - Experience
:
Previous correctional/detention facility experience; minimum two (2) years of experience - Licenses/Certifications
:
Unrestricted current license in state of practice; current DEA registration; current lifesaving BLS and PALS certification through AHA
