Role DescriptionWe are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Food Safety & Assistant Production Manager to lead all food safety, quality assurance, sanitation, and compliance initiatives within a manufacturing facility, as well as function as an Assistant to the Director of Operations. This individual will be responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving food safety and quality systems that ensure regulatory compliance, product integrity, and operational excellence.

The Food Safety & Assistant Production Manager serves as a key leader within the plant, partnering cross-functionally with Operations, Production, Supply Chain, and R&D teams to drive a culture of food safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities- Food Safety & Quality Leadership: Lead food safety and quality programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory, customer, internal, and industry standards while promoting a strong food safety culture.
- Quality Systems & Compliance: Manage QMS and programs such as HACCP, GMP, allergen control, sanitation, pest control, and environmental monitoring. Coordinate internal/external audits and corrective actions while maintaining GFSI and regulatory compliance.
- Continuous Improvement: Use audits, data analysis, root cause analysis, CAPA, and KPIs to identify risks and improve product quality, production efficiency, and compliance.
- Incident & Customer Management: Lead investigations of food safety and quality incidents, non-conforming products, and customer complaints. Manage product holds, dispositions, documentation, and corrective actions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Operations, Production, Engineering, R&D, Supply Chain, Warehouse, and Commercial teams to ensure food safety, quality, process improvement, and product compliance.
- Leadership & Training: Lead and develop the Food Safety & Quality team, provide coaching and performance management, and deliver training that promotes accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Certification in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, Dairy Science, or a related scientific discipline preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive Food Safety and Quality leadership experience within food manufacturing, consumer packaged goods, ingredients, beverage, dairy, or related industries preferred.
- Strong knowledge of: HACCP, GMPs, Food Safety Management Systems, Allergen Control Programs, Sanitation Programs, Pest Management, Regulatory Compliance, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions.
- Experience leading internal and external audits.
- Strong understanding of microbiological testing, sanitation monitoring, and quality assurance principles.
- PCQI certification.
- Experience with FSMA requirements.
- Knowledge of GFSI-recognized standards such as SQF, BRCGS, or FSSC 22000.
- Experience supporting export customers and international food safety requirements.
- Previous leadership and social responsibility experience in a manufacturing environment.
