Lead Commercial Carpenter
This role leads commercial remodeling projects at a major institutional facility, ensuring all work meets high quality standards and is completed on schedule. The Lead Commercial Carpenter oversees and performs tasks such as framing, drywall, tile work, cabinetry, and other interior commercial carpentry duties while coordinating closely with subcontractors, tradespeople, and stakeholders. The position requires strong technical carpentry skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain a safe, organized, and compliant job site.
Responsibilities- Oversee and manage commercial remodeling projects from start to finish, ensuring work is completed on time and to high quality standards.
- Perform or coordinate carpentry tasks such as framing, drywall installation, drywall finishing, tile work, cabinetry, and other general remodeling duties.
- Lead and support interior commercial carpentry activities, including metal stud framing and finish carpentry.
- Collaborate with subcontractors, tradespeople, and project stakeholders to ensure clear communication and seamless project execution.
- Ensure all work complies with local building codes, safety regulations, and company standards.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve on-site construction and remodeling challenges efficiently.
- Inspect work in progress to verify quality, accuracy, and adherence to project specifications.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment throughout the project.
- Assist in planning and sequencing work to optimize productivity and minimize rework.
- Support the transition of projects from contract phase to long-term engagement by delivering reliable and consistent performance.
- Proven experience in commercial carpentry, including interior commercial carpentry work.
- At least 2+ years of experience in drywall installation and drywall finishing.
- Hands-on experience with metal stud framing and structural framing.
- Proficiency in finish carpentry, including trim, cabinetry, and detailed interior work.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Strong understanding of local building codes, safety regulations, and construction standards.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and oversee remodeling projects in a commercial setting.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with subcontractors, tradespeople, and project stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve on-site issues quickly.
- Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Skills & Qualifications
- Any additional carpentry experience beyond core commercial and interior work is a plus.
- Experience working on large, complex institutional or commercial projects is beneficial.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in leading tasks and small teams.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality craftsmanship.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities on active job sites.
