At Zūm, we’ve reimagined the nation’s largest mass transit system—student transportation—through an end-to-end, cloud-based platform. With an electric vehicle–first approach and a multi-sized fleet, we cut commute times by up to 20% while improving safety and transparency for families, drivers, schools, and districts. Since 2015, we’ve logged 8+ million miles delivering reliable, efficient, and sustainable service.

What you’ll tackle
  • Troubleshoot and repair: steering, electrical, cooling, lubrication, braking, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, and transmissions.
  • Adjust, test, and rebuild engines; service oil, temperature, and fuel regulation assemblies.
  • Operate within your certification level while following all relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Test-drive vehicles to verify successful repairs.
  • Arrange and obtain inspections/approvals before major repair releases.
  • Keep the shop safe, clean, and efficient; ensure compliance with federal, state/provincial, and local standards.
  • Record labor hours, parts usage, and all work performed on required documentation.
  • Handle road calls and complete on-the-road fixes.
  • Flag additional repair needs and refer work needing higher-level technician qualifications.
  • Inform the Lead Technician of unsafe maintenance conditions, practices, or vehicle abuse.
Is this you?
  • 2–4 years of medium/heavy truck fleet mechanic experience.
  • Expertise in diagnostics, electrical systems, and A/C.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of core vehicle systems and diesel equipment.
  • Hands‑on fleet background across diesel and gasoline platforms.
  • Own the recommended minimum hand tools for diesel technicians.
  • Strong judgment and decision‑making ability.
  • Valid state driver’s license (CDL preferred).
  • ASE certification desired but not required.
