Job Description

AV is seeking a Software Engineer 3 with Machine Learning (ML) & Artificial Intelligence (AI) experience for our PRIME contract. The ideal candidate will design and develop robust software solutions that leverage ML and AI techniques to enhance cyber defense and cyber intelligence solutions. The role requires a deep understanding of programming languages, experience implementing ML/AI algorithms and frameworks, and comfort with evolving technologies.

• Evaluate models for applicability to mission problems, considering speed, accuracy, security, and compliance.
• Understand standard AI/ML data formats for models, weights, and data interchange.
• Apply industry‑standard techniques for compressing and fine‑tuning models to fit target platforms, including CPU‑only implementations and edge devices.
• Optimize performance and efficiency of ML/AI models through continuous testing and refinement.
• Design and develop ML and AI algorithms and integrate them into systems to solve emerging mission‑critical problems.
• Provide leadership and support for corporate AI efforts, including the AI Working Group, Innovation Center, and proposal activities.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Conduct research and experiments to identify and evaluate the most suitable ML/AI techniques for specific use cases.
• Stay up to date with the latest advances in ML/AI technologies and best practices, researching new technologies and addressing emerging challenges.
• Analyze, design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain Java and Python‑based innovative solutions to address emerging mission challenges.
• Document experiment results, prototype software solutions, and ensure that all technical documentation meets requirements.
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to jointly solve problems and find solutions as a team.
• Work collaboratively in an Agile development environment.

• Twenty years experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university. Four additional years of SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may substitute for a bachelor's degree.
• Deep understanding of AI/ML capabilities within a client environment.
• Strong software development skills with Java, Python, and object‑oriented programming concepts and patterns.
• Experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks such as Tensor Flow, PyTorch, scikit‑learn, or similar.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and computational complexity.
• Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaborate effectively within a team environment.
• Experience in the full SDLC (Requirements Analysis, Design, Coding, Testing, Implementation, Maintenance) with Agile methodology.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

• Good understanding of software project management tools (Git Lab, Jenkins, Maven, Jira, Confluence).
• Previous experience developing and deploying ML/AI models in real‑world applications.
• Knowledge of distributed computing frameworks such as Apache Spark or Hadoop.
• Knowledge of data science workflows, ETL, and data lakes.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Contributions to open‑source projects or active participation in the developer community.

• Work performed in contractor facility in Annapolis Junction.
• Software development on low and high side to build innovative solutions in both environments.
• Working in both AWS and Azure environments.
• Opportunity for partial telework.
