Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the Residential Manager oversees the daily operation of a residential program serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position supervises residential staff, ensures compliance with regulatory standards, supports implementation of individualized service plans, promotes quality care and community integration, and maintains a safe, healthy, person-centered living environment. The Residential Manager provides leadership and coordination of services while ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of residents.
Functions
- Supervises, schedules, and plans work activities of assigned residential staff.
- Ensures all required employee training, certifications, competency validations, and documentation remain current.
- Manages employee relations, staffing, scheduling, coaching, and performance management activities.
- Coordinates and facilitates access to medical, behavioral health, and support services for residents.
- Assists with the development, implementation, and monitoring of individualized service and treatment plans.
- Monitors exceptional rate and specialized service plans to ensure compliance with staffing and service requirements.
- Maintains communication with program leadership to ensure appropriate supports and services are available.
- Provides support to residents and families during periods of illness, crisis, transition, or family disruption.
- Counsels and assists residents with daily decision-making, problem-solving, and independent living skills.
- Instructs residents individually and in groups regarding daily living activities and life skills development.
- Observes and documents resident behaviors, progress, concerns, and service outcomes.
- Participates in interdisciplinary meetings, case reviews, and service planning activities.
- Performs or oversees household management activities including cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and errands.
- Plans, coordinates, and conducts staff training and in-service activities.
- Assists residents with meal planning, grocery shopping, food preparation, and nutritional needs.
- Maintains records of resident progress and services provided and reports changes in condition promptly.
- Provides transportation for residents to appointments, activities, employment, community events, and services.
- Ensures compliance with agency policies regarding medication administration and self-administration assistance.
- Maintains compliance with work schedules, attendance requirements, and organizational policies.
- Maintains a safe, healthy, supportive, and person-centered residential environment.
- Reports safety concerns, incidents, and environmental hazards promptly.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing residential and developmental disability services.
- Knowledge of organizational management and program administration practices.
- Knowledge of budgeting, resource allocation, and financial oversight principles.
- Knowledge of supervision, coaching, training, and performance management techniques.
- Knowledge of person-centered planning and service delivery principles.
- Knowledge of medication administration policies and health and safety requirements.
- Ability to observe, assess, and monitor resident behavior and functioning.
- Ability to assist and supervise residents with activities of daily living.
- Ability to develop and implement individualized support plans.
- Ability to provide training, instruction, and orientation services to residents and staff.
- Ability to participate effectively in service planning meetings and interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to complete evaluations and monitor resident functional outcomes.
- Ability to serve as a subject matter resource for staff.
- Ability to supervise and direct the work of others.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize competing demands.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
