Position: Industrial Engineering Junior Salesperson - for Aluminium

Industrial Engineering Junior Sales Person – for Aluminium Profiles Accessories (Catalogue Sales)

Permanent Position | Johannesburg near Roodepoort. Preferably start immediately.
Must Be Willing To Relocate Near The Company – Essential

Qualifications and Experience
  • Matric / Grade 12
  • N6, Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Industrial Design (advantage)
  • Valid driver’s license and own car
  • Any sales, customer service, or technical product training – advantage
  • 0–2 years in sales, customer service, internal sales or technical support
  • Basic understanding of mechanical components, aluminum profiles, or interest in engineering systems
  • Exposure to metal fabrication highly advantageous
Responsibilities
  • Support and grow sales of item® aluminium profiles, modular framing components, and mechanical accessories through catalogue-based selling
  • Promote and sell item® aluminium profiles, fasteners, linear components, and accessories from the company catalogue
  • Research and identify new customers in manufacturing, automation, packaging, materials handling, and engineering sectors
  • Conduct outbound calls, respond to inbound enquiries, and support walk-in clients
  • Maintain and update customer information on CRM systems
  • Prepare and deliver quick, accurate, catalogue-based quotations
  • Follow up consistently to convert leads into sales
  • Assist senior sales team with upselling and cross‑selling opportunities
  • Develop strong foundational knowledge of item® profiles, T‑slot systems, accessories, linear motion elements, and assembly options
  • Provide basic technical advice to customers (training provided)
  • Interpret customer sketches, basic dimensions, or application needs to recommend suitable components
  • Work closely with the engineering/design department on custom assemblies, cutting list, and BOM preparation
  • Assist with order processing, documentation, and confirmation
  • Track delivery schedules and communicate updates to clients
  • Maintain catalogue stock, sample kits, showroom displays, and demo components
  • Support trade shows, product demonstrations, and marketing events
  • Build strong relationships with procurement teams, technicians, small fabricators, automation builders, and project buyers
  • Ensure excellent after‑sales service and customer satisfaction
  • Read simple drawings or understand dimensional requirements (training provided)
  • Maintain high accuracy in quotations and order entry
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook)
  • CRM familiarity (advantage)
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Sales revenue growth (monthly and quarterly)
  • Lead generation activity (calls, visits, CRM entries)
  • Quote turnaround time and accuracy
  • Customer satisfaction and repeat business rate
  • Product knowledge improvement and technical proficiency milestones
Compensation and Benefits
  • Monthly Salary: R 15 000 to R 25 000 + Commission on top (Salary package is dependent on skills, Qualifications and years of relevant experience only) + Discretionary Annual Performance Bonus

  • Training on item® product systems provided
  • Fuel/transport allowance if field visits are required
  • Pension Scheme: company contribution 5% of gross salary, fully non‑negotiable as per company policy
