Overview
Junior Industrial Sales Person – Steel Metal Fabrication Services (Permanent Position – Johannesburg, near Roodepoort).
Preferably available to start immediately.
Must be willing to relocate near the company – the company does not cover travel to/from home.
Industry: Metal Fabrication / Engineering / Manufacturing.
Minimum qualification:
Matric (Grade 12).
Experience:
1–2 years’ sales experience (any technical/industrial sales is beneficial).
Strong interest in engineering, fabrication, or technical industries.
Responsibilities- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across target industries (manufacturing, construction, mining, industrial engineering, fabrication).
- Conduct cold calling, emailing, social media outreach, and site visits to generate leads.
- Visit client sites to understand fabrication needs and identify opportunities for quoting.
- Maintain an active pipeline of prospects and opportunities.
- Develop strong relationships with new and existing customers.
- Provide professional customer service, ensuring enquiries are responded to promptly.
- Assist clients with understanding fabrication capabilities, including materials, cutting, bending, welding, assembly, finishing, and bespoke fabrication work.
- Gather technical information from clients to prepare RFQs (Request for Quotation).
- Work with internal estimators, engineers, and production teams to prepare accurate quotes.
- Assist in preparing and presenting proposals to clients.
- Follow up on outstanding quotations and convert them into sales orders.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and sector developments.
- Identify potential new sectors or applications for fabricated metal products.
- Update CRM with all leads, opportunities, meetings, and follow‑ups.
- Prepare weekly and monthly sales activity reports.
- Ensure all documentation, contracts, and customer data are accurate and up to date.
- Technical certificate or diploma in Fabrication, Engineering, Welding, or Manufacturing (beneficial but not required).
- Past exposure to metal fabrication workshops or industrial client environments.
- Basic understanding of engineering or metal fabrication processes (training provided).
- Ability to read simple drawings or willingness to learn.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good computer literacy (email, MS Office, CRM systems).
- Reliable with strong attention to detail.
- Driven, target‑oriented, and self‑motivated.
- Professional and well‑presented; energetic, enthusiastic, and willing to learn.
- High work ethic and integrity; able to work independently and within a team.
- Positive attitude with resilience and persistence.
- Existing customer relationships in relevant industries (advantageous).
- Ability to understand or interpret technical drawings (advantageous).
- Monthly lead generation targets.
- Number of customer visits and engagements.
- Conversion rates: quotes to orders.
- Monthly and quarterly sales targets.
- Customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Accurate and up‑to‑date CRM usage.
Monthly salary: R 15 000 – R 25 000 for Junior; higher for a Senior + commissions on top. Salary package depends on skills, qualifications, and years of relevant experience. Discretionary annual performance bonus also applicable.
Note:
Pension scheme will be deducted from net salary and is not negotiable. The company does not contribute to the pension.
Office and on‑site client visits; some travel required within Gauteng (fuel reimbursement or vehicle allowance depending on package). Monday–Friday normal office hours, with occasional after‑hours as needed for client demands.
