About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Principal Geologist to lead their exploration initiatives in the Randburg area. This senior position requires extensive experience in discovering and evaluating new mineral resources, driving exploration strategy, and managing exploration projects from greenfield to resource definition. You will provide expert geological interpretation, guide drilling programs, and mentor junior geoscientists. Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute innovative exploration strategies and programs for target commodities.
- Oversee geological data acquisition, interpretation, and modeling, including 3D geological modeling.
- Manage and interpret results from geological mapping, geochemical sampling, and geophysical surveys.
- Plan, budget, and supervise diamond and RC drilling programs.
- Perform resource estimation and contribute to pre-feasibility studies.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to a team of geologists and geoscientists.
- Ensure adherence to industry best practices, safety protocols, and environmental standards in all exploration activities.
- Master's or PhD in Geology or Economic Geology.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in mineral exploration, with a proven track record of successful discoveries.
- Expertise in a range of geological deposit types and exploration techniques.
- Advanced proficiency in geological modeling and resource estimation software (e.g., Leapfrog, Datamine).
- Strong understanding of structural geology and its application in exploration.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
