Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic

An exciting vacancy exists at SANY Equipment South Africa based in Benoni for a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic to join the team.

To perform diagnostics, maintenance, repairs, and servicing of heavy‑duty diesel‑powered construction and earthmoving equipment in both workshop and field service environments. The role ensures optimal machine performance, minimal downtime, high‑quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction while complying with safety and company standards.

• Conduct accurate fault‑finding and diagnostics on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and electrical systems.
• Utilize diagnostic tools and OEM software to identify mechanical and electronic faults.
• Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins to determine corrective actions.
• Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance according to OEM specifications.
• Repair and overhaul engines, gearboxes, axles, hydraulic pumps, and related components.
• Diagnose and repair machinery under pressure while maintaining safety standards.
• Ensure minimal machine downtime through effective troubleshooting and repair.
• Maintain tools, workshop equipment, and service vehicles in good working condition.

• N3–N6 in Mechanical Studies or Matric with technical subjects or equivalent.
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience on heavy‑duty / earthmoving equipment.
• Physically fit; willingness to work in workshop and field environments.
• Valid Driver’s License (Code 08/EB or higher).
