Land Development Inspector II

The City is seeking a Land Development Inspector II to inspect construction and development sites for compliance with approved plans, permits, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations. This position performs inspections related to grading, drainage, stormwater, erosion and sediment control, and infrastructure, while identifying violations, responding to complaints, and coordinating with developers, contractors, and City staff to ensure compliant development.

• Inspect land development and construction sites for compliance with approved plans, permits, and applicable regulations.
• Conduct inspections related to grading, drainage, stormwater, erosion and sediment control, and infrastructure.
• Review development plans, permits, and construction documents before and during inspections.
• Identify violations, investigate complaints, and coordinate corrective actions with developers and contractors.
• Perform MS4 inspections of stormwater ponds, outfalls, and related infrastructure.
• Prepare inspection reports and enforcement documentation while collaborating with City departments, agencies, and the public.

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Six (6) years of experience involving soil erosion and sedimentation control, construction site inspection, and construction plan interpretation.
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

• Associate's Degree in a field of study related to the occupational field.

Must possess a valid Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC) Level I B Certification.

Must possess a valid Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC) Level II Plan Reviewer Certification.

Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia and at least five (5) years of good driving history.

• A knowledgeable professional with a strong understanding of land development, environmental protection, and plan review processes.
• A detail-oriented inspector familiar with land development codes, ordinances, and environmental regulations.
• An informed field professional with knowledge of soil conditions, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater management.
• An effective communicator who can work professionally with contractors, residents, coworkers, and other stakeholders.
• An analytical thinker who can read and interpret plans, permits, reports, and regulatory documents and identify potential compliance issues.
• A proficient technology user comfortable with Microsoft Office and the tools needed to document inspections, conduct research, and maintain accurate records.
