Job Description
:
Provides instruction for teaching the theoretical and practical concepts, strategies and techniques associated with the field of Early Childhood Education within the Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) framework.
Essential Duties:Teaches students the fundamentals of Early Childhood Education including the applications and laboratory techniques commonly used in the industry.
Instructs students using effective instructional strategies such as research projects, group discussions, cooperative learning, project and problem-based learning.
Prepares engaging and challenging lessons for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
Presents and leads students in demonstrations and laboratory experiments utilizing appropriate procedures and protocols.
Teaches the proper use of equipment and instruments and the relevant industry safety measures and OSHA workplace requirements.
Prepares, administers, and grades tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress.
Administers various types of assessments to monitor student’s comprehension of content.
Administer and/or supports state and local testing processes and policies.
Attends in-person faculty meetings and professional learning sessions (GACTE Summer Conference, Cluster Drive-ins sponsored by the Georgia Department of Education, APS Professional Development, etc.).
Examines careers in Early Childhood Education and effectively guides students through industry career exploration.
Makes industry connections for the purpose of facilitating real world experiences for students such as classroom guest speakers, job shadows, service learning, and work-based learning.
Assists students as an advisor for CTAE student organizations.
Enhances course content in the form of remediation, modification and enrichment.
Analyzes data to improve instruction and models instructional strategies which promote student achievement.
Works collaboratively with Middle/High School teachers to vertical align curriculum and best practices, where applicable.
Effectively manages the learning environment, so that it is conducive to learning.
Additional ResponsibilitiesAttends school and District-level professional learning activities as directed
Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent
Seeks and maintains professional learning opportunities through State endorsed professional organizations. i.e., ACTE, GACTE
Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications
Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction
Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale
Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
Minimum QualificationsEducation:
Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution accepted by GaPSC required
Certification/Licensure:
Must hold GaPSC certification in Family and Consumer Science Education or Early Childhood Education

Physical Demands:
Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds with assistance
