Position: Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Engineer

Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Engineer – Johns Creek, GA

Alcon’s IT Engineering function is looking for an experienced MES Engineer who will design, implement, support, and continuously improve MES solutions in a regulated medical device manufacturing environment. The candidate will work cross‑functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, IT, SCADA, and SAP teams to deliver scalable, compliant, and high‑performing MES solutions.

Responsibilities

MES Implementation & Configuration – Design, configure, and deploy MES solutions aligned with manufacturing processes; translate business and production requirements into system configurations; support integrations with SCADA, ERP (e.g., SAP), and equipment.

Production Support & Troubleshooting – Provide front‑line and escalation support for MES‑related production issues; perform root‑cause analysis and corrective actions; ensure timely resolution; work on‑call as needed.

Validation & Compliance (GxP / CSA) – Support validation lifecycle activities (URS, IQ/OQ/PQ, RTM, validation reports); ensure MES compliance with FDA, GxP, and ISO
13485; maintain audit‑ready documentation and support inspections.

Continuous Improvement – Identify and implement system enhancements; analyze MES data and trends to support operational decisions; participate in MES upgrades, releases, and optimization initiatives.

Documentation & SOP – Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and technical documentation; support change‑control processes; ensure proper documentation for system configurations and workflows.

Training & Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Train production users and stakeholders on MES functionality; collaborate with Operations, Quality, IT, and Automation teams; support change‑management and user adoption initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school+8yrs; associate+4yrs).
Fluent in reading, writing, understanding, and communicating in English.
Experience with MES platforms such as MS Planner, Kneat, Teams Center, Siemens OpCenter, or Pas‑X; validation experience preferred.
Knowledge of GxP, FDA, and ISO
13485 requirements in a regulated medical device manufacturing environment.
