Optomi, in partnership with a leader in the manufacturing industry, is seeking an Azure Cloud Manager/Lead to lead the design, buildout, and expansion of its cloud environment. This role is ideal for a hands‑on cloud leader who has built Azure environments from the ground up, led teams through change, and supported multiple mergers and acquisitions from a cloud infrastructure standpoint.
Position OverviewThe Azure Cloud Manager will own the company’s Azure strategy and execution as the organization rapidly expands through acquisitions. The cloud environment is still maturing, and this leader will play a key role in building infrastructure from infancy, integrating acquired tenants, and modernizing platforms across the business.
This role requires a balance of strategic leadership and hands‑on technical execution
, with responsibility for both guiding engineers and directly contributing when needed.
- Lead the design, build, and ongoing management of the company’s Azure cloud infrastructure.
- Define and execute the Azure cloud roadmap in collaboration with executive leadership.
- Architect and manage Azure landing zones, including management groups, subscriptions, networking, identity, and security baselines.
- Design, deploy, and maintain infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices (Terraform, Bicep, and/or ARM).
- Lead cloud migrations and integrations resulting from mergers and acquisitions, including tenant‑to‑tenant and subscription‑level migrations.
- Establish standardized migration playbooks to support multiple acquisitions per year.
- Oversee identity and access integrations, including Entra (Azure AD), RBAC, and conditional access.
- Design and support hybrid and cloud networking, including VNets, peering, VPNs, and Express Route where applicable.
- Partner with application and data teams to migrate workloads using lift‑and‑shift, re‑platforming, or modernization approaches.
- Implement and enforce cloud governance standards, collaborating closely with security teams to ensure compliance.
- Remain hands‑on technically when needed to support architecture decisions, troubleshooting, and complex implementations.
- Adapt to new technologies introduced through acquisitions and provide technical leadership through change.
- Strong, hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure, including compute, storage, networking, identity, and security.
- Proven experience supporting mergers and acquisitions from a cloud infrastructure standpoint.
- Experience building cloud environments from the ground up.
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, and/or ARM.
- Experience designing and managing Azure landing zones and multi‑subscription environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and grow teams of engineers.
- Experience collaborating with executive leadership on cloud strategy, architecture, and roadmaps.
- Strong understanding of cloud governance, including Azure Policy, RBAC, and cost management.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 migrations and large‑scale cloud environments.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (AKS preferred)
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments (Git Hub Actions, Azure Dev Ops, etc.)
- Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights
- Familiarity with Azure data and analytics platforms (Power BI, Fabric, Azure SQL, Synapse)
- Exposure to multi‑cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP)
