Job Overview

The Specialist, Data Governance Platforms owns the design, development, and operation of Macy's data governance platform (Collibra). This role translates governance strategy into a scalable, operational platform by delivering reliable metadata, end-to-end data lineage, and automated governance workflows. By integrating Collibra with core enterprise systems, the Specialist enables analytics, AI, and business teams to discover, understand, and trust the data that drives informed decision-making.

What

You Will Do
  • Build, configure, and manage Collibra platform implementations to support enterprise data governance.
  • Design and develop Collibra workflows using BPMN, Java, and Groovy to automate governance processes.
  • Create and maintain Collibra dashboards, views, and lineage diagrams for clear data visibility.
  • Perform migrations of Collibra components across development, test, and production environments.
  • Integrate Collibra with other systems using REST APIs to ensure seamless data flow and accessibility.
  • Configure Collibra EDGE integrations and perform regular infrastructure health checks.
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries and meta models to standardize data definitions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable metadata capture, classification, and lineage discovery.
  • Implement and validate data quality checks in partnership with business stakeholders.
  • Provide support to the Data Governance Architect and other governance team members as needed.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties, other duties may be assigned.
Skills You Will Need
  • Data Governance & Stewardship – Applies governance principles to maintain accurate, complete, and reliable metadata across enterprise systems.
  • Collibra Platform Expertise – Designing, configuring, and managing Collibra implementations, workflows, dashboards, and lineage diagrams.
  • Metadata Management & Standardization – Ensures consistency, compliance, and visibility of metadata, classification, and lineage across enterprise systems.
  • Data Quality & Validation – Implements and validates data quality checks, conducts profiling and analysis, and maintains trusted data assets.
  • System Integration – Integrates Collibra with enterprise systems using REST APIs and EDGE integrations to enable discoverability and data flow.
  • Workflow Development & Automation – Designs and develops automated workflows using BPMN, Java, and Groovy, and manages migrations across environments.
  • Technical Communication & Collaboration – Effectively communicates complex technical concepts to stakeholders and collaborates with cross-functional teams.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge – Understands and applies data privacy and compliance requirements such as GDPR and CCPA.
  • Business Alignment – Translates business needs into governance solutions, aligning processes with organizational priorities and retail operations.
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation – Drives process simplification, platform optimization, and adoption of best practices to improve data governance.
Who You Are
  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • 2+ years of experience in data stewardship, governance, and metadata management.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
