The Bus Driver plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe transportation of children to and from the childcare center, adhering to Texas Minimum Standards, and maintaining a positive and nurturing environment during transit. This position requires excellent driving skills, strong communication abilities, and a genuine commitment to children's safety and well-being.
General Duties and Responsibilities- Understand and comply with Ivy Kids Brand Standards and Texas Minimum Standards.
- Safely operate a school bus, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations, as well as Texas Minimum Standards.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children during transportation, including proper use of safety restraints, monitoring behavior, and maintaining a calm and secure atmosphere.
- Develop and follow designated routes for transporting children to and from the childcare center.
- Perform daily checks on the bus to ensure it is in proper working condition, reporting any issues or concerns to the Center Director.
- Be prepared to handle emergencies or accidents during transit, including knowledge of emergency procedures, first aid, and evacuation protocols.
- Maintain open and clear communication with childcare center staff regarding transportation schedules, route changes, and any incidents or concerns that may arise.
- Keep accurate records of daily transportation attendance as defined by the transportation procedure.
- Demonstrate professionalism, patience, and a positive attitude when interacting with children, and staff.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities related to bus safety, child passenger safety, and other relevant topics to enhance job performance and ensure compliance with state regulations.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings.
- Understand and adhere to Ivy Kids Personnel Policies.
- Ensure proper dress code at all times.
- Maintains cleanliness and follows a 4-step sanitation process and cleaning checklist.
- Is aware of children’s allergies.
- Ensure incident reports are completed if needed.
- Be regular in your attendance at work.
- Communicates appropriately with potential and current families.
- Maybe required to work after hours or weekends for center events, trainings, etc.
- Maybe required to come in early or stay late as per center’s needs.
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to operate a school bus.
- Clean driving record with no history of serious traffic violations or accidents; excellent driving skills, and knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.
- Must be able to pass the background check.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be able to repeatedly bend, stoop and run; must repeatedly lift and carry children up to 50 pounds depending on the age and weight of the child.
- Must be able to effectively interact and communicate with children and parents.
