The Bus Driver plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe transportation of children to and from the childcare center, adhering to Texas Minimum Standards, and maintaining a positive and nurturing environment during transit. This position requires excellent driving skills, strong communication abilities, and a genuine commitment to children's safety and well-being.

General Duties and Responsibilities
  • Understand and comply with Ivy Kids Brand Standards and Texas Minimum Standards.
  • Safely operate a school bus, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations, as well as Texas Minimum Standards.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children during transportation, including proper use of safety restraints, monitoring behavior, and maintaining a calm and secure atmosphere.
  • Develop and follow designated routes for transporting children to and from the childcare center.
  • Perform daily checks on the bus to ensure it is in proper working condition, reporting any issues or concerns to the Center Director.
  • Be prepared to handle emergencies or accidents during transit, including knowledge of emergency procedures, first aid, and evacuation protocols.
  • Maintain open and clear communication with childcare center staff regarding transportation schedules, route changes, and any incidents or concerns that may arise.
  • Keep accurate records of daily transportation attendance as defined by the transportation procedure.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, patience, and a positive attitude when interacting with children, and staff.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities related to bus safety, child passenger safety, and other relevant topics to enhance job performance and ensure compliance with state regulations.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings.
  • Understand and adhere to Ivy Kids Personnel Policies.
  • Ensure proper dress code at all times.
  • Maintains cleanliness and follows a 4-step sanitation process and cleaning checklist.
  • Is aware of children’s allergies.
  • Ensure incident reports are completed if needed.
  • Be regular in your attendance at work.
  • Communicates appropriately with potential and current families.
  • Maybe required to work after hours or weekends for center events, trainings, etc.
  • Maybe required to come in early or stay late as per center’s needs.
Qualifications
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to operate a school bus.
  • Clean driving record with no history of serious traffic violations or accidents; excellent driving skills, and knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.
  • Must be able to pass the background check.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to repeatedly bend, stoop and run; must repeatedly lift and carry children up to 50 pounds depending on the age and weight of the child.
  • Must be able to effectively interact and communicate with children and parents.
