Summary
:
In alignment with the mission of Johnsburg School District 12, which is to create a safe and challenging learning environment that develops character and inspires students to become productive lifelong learners, the School Social Worker will provide consultation for district students, staff, and parents regarding problems that interfere with students’ adjustment within the educational environment.
Conditions of Employment
- Anticipated Dates:
August 27, 2026 - November 6, 2026 - Participation in the TRS pension plan
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Social Work
- Professional Educator License with an Illinois approved endorsement for School Social Worker Pre‑Kindergarten through Age 21
- Professional Educator License registered with McHenry County R.O.E.
- Knowledge of, and or experience, with restorative practices (preferred but not required)
- Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance
Responsibilities and Expectations
- Participates in objectives designed to ensure a safe, healthy and positive learning environment.
- Contributes to Behavior Intervention Plans and related social/emotional goals through direct service, consultation, or development of objectives.
- Intentionally creates a community anchored in shared values, enforcing those values and holding students accountable.
- Assists with in‑service training programs.
- Completes social history for multi‑disciplinary conferences.
- Participates in the identification of students requiring social services.
- Provides individual and group counseling for students.
- Shares appropriate information with staff and students’ families.
- Makes recommendations for additional services and advises families about community resources.
- Provides articulation meetings for at‑risk and special education students from sending schools.
- Provides immediate support for students who are at risk to self or others.
- Assists in assessment and plan of action, including coordination with community links.
- Consults with administration and Student Services staff to provide immediate services and counseling during tragedies or violent events.
- Establishes systems of accountability for students and self.
- Collaborates and communicates with colleagues in a true professional learning community.
- Crafts professional goals to improve practice.
- Maintains records in accordance with district, regional, state and federal regulations.
- Actively participates in faculty/team meetings, open houses, parent conferences, educational conferences, training workshops, and other related activities.
- Displays the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents, school personnel, and associated agencies.
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, Director of Student Services, or Superintendent.
