The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in safeguarding, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, as well as preventing illness and alleviating suffering. The RN is responsible for diagnosing and treating human responses and acting as an advocate for individuals and families. This position demands compliance with all standards of practice and professional development in accordance with nursing regulations and ethical guidelines.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care while managing a group of patients. Function as a primary or accountable nurse based on unit assignment, ensuring safety, effectiveness, and competency.
  • Educate patients and their families about health promotion and disease management using available resources.
  • Utilize knowledge of pharmacology to administer medications safely in accordance with established policies.
  • Share responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization, including staffing, time management, and supplies.
  • Comply with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Actively support the Nursing Shared Governance Model by engaging in the Unit Council, participating in improvement initiatives, and contributing to peer review processes.
  • Engage in professional development and continuing education while completing all mandatory training requirements.
  • Incorporate nursing research and current evidence into practice.
  • Provide a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
  • Adhere to organizational values.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience Required Skills & Experience
  • Six (6) months to three (3) years of nursing (RN) experience.
  • Zero (0) to three (3) years of management experience.
  • Five (5) or more years of direct nursing experience.
  • Proven collaboration and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Strong judgment and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent organizational understanding and planning skills, including time management.
  • Problem-solving acumen and a commitment to quality and reliability.
  • Knowledge in safety and risk management.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.
Education Required Education
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing.
Preferred Education
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
Certifications & Licensure Required Certifications & Licensure
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) License in New York State.
  • BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
  • Unit-specific certifications as required.
Preferred Certifications & Licensure
  • Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
  • Relevant skills certification (i.e., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by assigned unit.

Schedule Notes

Night shifts required; must include cardiology telemetry skills. Experience in cardiac care is essential, including knowledge of pertinent procedures and management of post-operative cardiac patients.
