Position: Travel Nurse RN - PCU - Progressive Care Unit - $2,587 per week

    Certification Details

  • BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
  • Current New York State RN License.
  • ACLS certification required.

    Job Details

  • Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis and treatment of human response and advocacy in care of individuals and families.
  • Accountable for compliance with New York State Nurse Practice Act, United Health Services policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and Bill of Patient Rights.
  • Promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.
  • Assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care for a group of patients, serving as primary or accountable nurse as designated.
  • Educates patients and families in health promotion and disease management.
  • Administers medications safely according to policy.
  • Shares responsibility for productivity and resource utilization including staffing, time management, supplies, and services.
  • Complies with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies.
  • Participates in Nursing Shared Governance Model, Unit Council, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
  • Engages in professional development, continuing education, and mandatory education requirements.
  • Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice.

    Job Requirements

  • Nursing (RN) experience of six (6) months to three (3) years.
  • Five plus (5) years of direct experience required (higher value taken).
  • Management experience of zero (0) to three (3) years.
  • Collaboration, communication (verbal & written), judgment/critical thinking, organizational understanding, planning, problem solving, quality, reliability, safety and risk management skills.
  • Previous clinical nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory setting preferred.
  • Experience in cardiac telemetry department required including TAVR, watchmans, mitral clips, heart catheterizations, preop/post op open heart, cardiac IV and PO medications, cardiac drips (cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, lidocaine, milrinone, heparin, insulin), anticoagulant management, CHF, CP, arrhythmias, NSTEMI, STEMI, PE, post op CABG >3 days, sepsis, pneumonia, stroke, observation patients, TR band and groin management, and familiarity with complications.
  • Ensure skills checklists are completed accurately.
  • Confirm cardio experience prior to submission.
  • Graduate of accredited school of Nursing required.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing preferred.

    Schedule Information

  • Day shift.
  • 12 hours per day.
  • 36 hours per week.
  • Every other weekend.
  • 13 weeks contract length.

    Unit Specific Information

  • Cardiac Telemetry RN Stepdown/PCU unit.
  • Telemetry skills checklist required.
  • Experience with cardiac telemetry including TAVR, watchmans, mitral clips, heart catheterizations, preop/post op open heart care.
  • Experience with cardiac IV and PO medications and drips at flat rate (cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, lidocaine, milrinone, heparin, insulin).
  • Management of anticoagulants, CHF, CP, arrhythmias, NSTEMI, STEMI, PE, post op CABG >3 days, sepsis, pneumonia, stroke, observation patients.
  • Use of TR band and groin management.
  • Familiarity with complications related to cardiac telemetry patients.

    Additional Details

  • Required skills include collaboration, communication, judgment, organizational understanding, planning, problem solving, quality, reliability, safety and risk management.
  • Preferred skills include previous clinical nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory setting.
