About the Position

The Construction Quality Control & Safety Manager serves as ASP's primary technical authority on construction, owning the organization's construction standards, home selection criteria, and quality/safety expectations across all programs. They lead construction consultants, site supervisors, and safety captains while driving continuous improvement in construction methods and best practices. They also spearhead innovation—researching new materials, methods, and strategic partnerships—and maintains ASP's construction knowledge management system to ensure lessons learned and technical guidance are captured and shared organization-wide.

This is an exempt position reporting to the Vice President of Field Operations.

Job Responsibilities Construction Leadership and Standards

Serve as the organization's primary technical resource for construction, providing expert guidance to field staff and ensuring timely, consistent resolution of complex construction issues.

Own and maintain ASP's construction standards for home repair and new construction, ensuring projects consistently meet organizational quality expectations, approved plans and applicable building codes.

Develop, evaluate and continuously improve construction methods, specifications, and best practices to increase quality, durability, efficiency and homeowner outcomes.

Own and maintain home selection standards and the Initial Home Visit (IHV) process, ensuring projects align with ASP's mission, program criteria and available resources.

Leadership and Oversight

Lead, manage and hold accountable construction consultants, site supervisors, and safety captains, fostering a culture of safety, quality, coaching and continuous improvement.

Participate as a member of the Peak Seasonal Mobilization Team, contributing construction expertise to organizational planning, policy development, and strategic decision-making.

Collaborate across programs to ensure construction practices remain consistent while supporting the unique goals of each ASP initiative.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

Champion innovation in residential construction by researching, testing and implementing new materials, methods, and partnership that improve the quality, affordability, durability and scalability of ASP's home repair and new construction programs.

Develop strategic partnerships with manufacturers, suppliers, industry associations, and technical experts to secure product donations, evaluate materials and pilot innovative construction solutions.

Research and develop standardized approaches for recurring construction challenges encountered across ASP's service area, including specialty repairs such as manufactured housing, aging housing stock, moisture management, accessibility modifications and energy efficiency improvement.

Evaluate new construction products and systems through field testing and collection, making recommendations for organization-wide adoption where appropriate.

Identify opportunities to reduce construction costs, improve volunteer experience, increase project longevity, and expand ASP's construction capabilities through innovation.

Own the organization's construction knowledge management system, ensuring lessons learned, successful repair methods, technical guidance, product evaluations, and constructions standards are documented and shared across all programs.

Qualifications

Required:

Willingness to work in a Christian environment

Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field, or a combination of education and experience

Experience in residential construction, home repair, or building trades, including field supervision

Working knowledge of residential building codes, construction standards, and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA)

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate technical concepts for varied audiences

Proficiency with standard office/productivity software

Desired:

Experience specific to nonprofit, mission-driven, or volunteer-based construction/home repair programs

Familiarity with specialty repair areas such as manufactured housing, aging housing stock, moisture management, accessibility…
