Position: Upward Bound Summer Instructors [Summer 2026]
Job Summary

Upward Bound Summer Instructors:
The opportunity is for May 29 - June 26, 2026

Seeking qualified instructors to teach in the areas of high school science (Astronomy, Geo Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, or other), High School English (Literature and Writing), high school foreign languages, or other STEM-focused classes.

Upward Bound summer instructors teach up to four consecutive 55-minute blocks every Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Some instructors may not teach all blocks, depending on student needs. In special cases, classes may be offered in the afternoon.

All positions at East Tennessee State University are contingent upon sufficient funding.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field,

* State teacher certification, and/or teaching experience at the university level.

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's Degree

* Teaching experience, at least three years

* Experience in teaching low-income, first-generation students

Compensation

* ~ 29.5 hours per week, $30.00 per hour
