The Estimator plays a critical role in developing bid proposals, supporting project controls, and aligning cost forecasts with project objectives at the Eastman facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze project specifications, drawings (P&IDs, layouts, schematics), and site conditions to prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and labor estimates.
  • Attend pre-construction walkdowns and constructability reviews to gather scope information and clarify field requirements.
  • Develop cost estimates for all phases of the project, including feasibility studies, budgetary forecasts, 50% design, and final project cost estimates.
  • Utilize client platforms such as Est Web for estimate development and submission.
  • Build and maintain estimates using work breakdown structures (WBS) to support project controls and reporting.
  • Provide resource-loaded estimates using Primavera P6 where required, including labor distribution.
  • Identify changes in project scope and prepare Project Control Notices (PCNs) to update forecasts and budgets.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, procurement, and site personnel to ensure alignment of estimates with field execution plans.
  • Track cost deviations and prepare change orders or revised estimates as needed.
  • Support project closeout processes including cost reconciliation and lessons learned.
Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical or instrumentation estimating in industrial construction or maintenance environments.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, codes (e.g., NEC), standards, and instrumentation components.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting P&IDs, electrical drawings, and layout diagrams.
  • Experience using estimating software such as Est Web and Excel; experience with P6 scheduling and resource loading is preferred.
  • Ability to develop estimates across all phases of a project lifecycle, from $10K to $1M+.
  • Familiarity with project controls and construction work packages.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • College degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
