Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Supplier Quality Engineer position.

Location: This is primarily a travel position; the SQE can reside in any location but must be open to extensive travel to vendor sites.

Job Description

The Supplier Quality Engineer ensures that all products (tanks, pressure vessels, structural weldments, and related heavy‑industrial components) meet all design, engineering, safety, and regulatory requirements. This role owns vendor qualification, oversees fabrication quality, and drives continuous improvement across the supply base.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and approve new vendors.
  • Review supplier manufacturing plans, weld maps, inspection test plans, and ensure compliance with design drawings, codes, and specifications.
  • Lead inspection of incoming tanks, vessels, and large fabrications, including dimensional checks, weld quality verification, coating inspection, and documentation review.
  • Investigate supplier defects, perform root‑cause analysis, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review and approve supplier quality documentation.
  • Ensure supplier adherence to all relevant codes, standards, and internal engineering specifications.
  • Work closely with engineering, procurement, project management, and onsite quality teams to ensure supplier performance aligns with project needs.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Supplier Quality Engineering.
  • Must have experience with fabrication, welding, tanks, pressure vessels, structural steel, or similar industries.
  • Familiarity with weld symbols, methods, and fabrication tolerances.
  • Proficiency in root‑cause analysis, FMEA, control plans, and statistical methods.
  • Experience conducting process audits and capability assessments at supplier sites.
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other related technical discipline.
