Position: Transportation Technician. Job in Johnson City Move Collective Jobs

We are seeking a Transportation Technician to enhance our Construction Management Team. This is an exciting opportunity to involve yourself in the inspection of ongoing transportation projects in North Carolina, ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to specifications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections of contractor operations on various transportation projects, including roadway and bridge construction, to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Perform routine material testing to maintain project integrity.
  • Measure and track quantities of pay items diligently.
  • Gather and maintain comprehensive record documents including material certifications, testing reports, and daily inspector diaries.
  • Complete additional related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
  • Must successfully complete JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.
  • Must pass JMT's drug screening process and be subject to random and for cause drug and alcohol testing thereafter.
Required Experience
  • Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related field from an accredited institution, along with two (2) years of relevant technician-level experience, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Possession of an active driver's license.
  • Experience in analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans is essential.
  • NCDOT certifications such as Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, and Conventional Density Testing are preferred.
  • 4+ years of construction inspection experience on transportation projects is highly desirable.
Working Conditions

The role involves fieldwork, requiring the ability to work safely in outdoor environments with exposure to construction site hazards, including heights and highway traffic. Candidates must be capable of moderate physical activity such as walking, climbing, kneeling, and standing. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work nights and weekends as needed is required.
