Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Engineering Project Advisor (PE)
Halff has an opening for an experienced Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Engineer (PE) to serve as a Project Advisor within our Energy practice in one of our Texas or Oklahoma office locations. This senior-level role provides a unique opportunity to offer strategic leadership and technical expertise while helping expand Halff's Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Engineering presence across Texas and Oklahoma. The ideal candidate brings 12+ years of experience delivering I&E engineering projects in the Oil & Gas and/or Energy practice.

- Provide technical and strategic guidance to project stakeholders and leadership across Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Engineering projects.
- Manage multiple projects, including scheduling, resources, and quality control.
- Lead projects, making technical recommendations and resolving complex design issues.
- Lead planning, design, and evaluation of engineering systems, including Oil & Gas and Energy projects.
- Communicate complex engineering concepts clearly to clients, public officials, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Develop cost estimates for materials, equipment, and labor.
- Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with design standards, safety requirements, and regulatory criteria.
- Perform site visits, inspections, and evaluations throughout design and construction phases.
- Support business development efforts and mentor technical staff as needed.
- Interface with utilities, vendors, and contractors to coordinate design and installations.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineers, EITs, and technical staff, fostering a culture of trust and collaboration within project team.
- Support estimates and client presentations to help grow the business.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients, understanding their needs, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Apply technical expertise appropriately by understanding project specific standards, criteria, deliverables and best practices.
- Supports operation managers and practice leaders in pursuit of construction engineering and inspection opportunities.
- Manage quality assurance and control analysis to ensure projects meet or exceed client expectations and Halff requirements and comply with recognized standards and codes of practice.
- Manage budgets, schedules, sub consultants, and client interaction.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or ABET accredited equivalent engineering degree.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- 12+ years of I&E engineering experience, preferably in Oil & Gas or Energy.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools specific to Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Engineering in the Oil & Gas and Energy industry.
- Working knowledge of local, state, and regulatory codes and standards.
- Proven project management and leadership experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency with industrial control systems, low voltage power, protective relays, switch gear, MCCs.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, API, AGA.
- AutoCAD and Microsoft Office proficiency; field/construction support experience preferred.
Skills:
- Control systems, PLCs, SCADA, instrumentation, and network architecture design.
- Knowledge of hazardous area electrical classification.
