Position Overview
The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Registered Nurse/PRN on the Skilled Unit at Georgia Regional Hospital - Atlanta, located in Decatur, GA. The Skilled Nursing Facility serves individuals who are profound to severely developmentally disabled and in need of a skilled nursing level of care.
Salary Range - $44.00 - $54.00 based on experience
This is an hourly, part‑time position with no benefits
Responsibilities- Assess client health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records
- Administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled clients
- Advise clients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.
- Administer prescribed medications or start intravenous fluids, and note times and amounts on clients' charts
- Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate client care plans
- Maintain accurate, detailed reports and client records
- Modify client treatment plans as indicated by clients' responses and conditions
- Monitor all aspects of client care, including diet and physical activity
- Monitor, record and report symptoms and changes in clients' conditions
- Observe nurses and visit clients to ensure that proper nursing care is provided
- Prepare clients for and assist with examinations and treatments
- Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies, and ensure that stock of supplies is maintained
- Provide education to client and family
- Provide healthcare, first aid, immunizations and assistance in convalescence and rehabilitation
- Assess, plan for, and provide basic nursing skills; know procedures including developing, implementing and revising plans of care
- Know nursing policies, procedures, protocols, treatments, standards of care and the Nurse Practice Act
- Know procedures for medication administration and administer oral, sublingual and IV medications; understand pharmacology
- Know immunization regulations and protocols
- Be able to perform CPR and, where applicable, AED
