Job Description
This role focuses on receiving, storing, and issuing materials, equipment, and other items within a stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard. You will help maintain accurate inventory records, keep storage areas organized and safe, and support smooth warehouse operations through careful handling and documentation of stock.
Responsibilities- Receive incoming stock items, verify quantities, and accurately record data manually or using a computer system.
- Count stock items regularly and maintain precise inventory records to support operational accuracy.
- Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.
- Verify inventory computations by comparing system records to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or correct errors as needed.
- Store items in an orderly, accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other designated areas.
- Label stock items clearly using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
- Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
- Monitor and document the use and condition of stock and stock handling equipment, including any damage or issues.
- Examine and inspect stock items for wear, defects, or damage and promptly report any concerns to supervisors.
- Provide assistance, guidance, or direction to other stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard workers to support efficient team operations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to document inventory and coordinate with team members.
- Analytical and problem-solving ability to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies and stock issues.
- Ability to work effectively as a team player while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of relevant warehouse equipment and stock handling tools.
- Familiarity with policies, procedures, and strategies that support secure and compliant operations for the protection of people, data, property, and facilities.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 5–7 years of experience in a similar role, such as Material Handler.
- Experience with packing, inventory control, and receiving processes.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in roles such as Material Handler or similar warehouse positions.
- Comfort using computer systems or manual methods to record and track inventory.
- Ability to maintain organized storage areas and follow established procedures.
- Experience handling labeling tools and equipment for stock identification.

Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a warehouse, stockroom, or storage yard environment where you will handle physical materials and equipment on a regular basis. You will work with labeling tools, stock handling equipment, and computer or manual inventory systems. The schedule follows an overnight shift, Monday through Thursday from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The work involves maintaining clean, organized, and safe storage areas in compliance with safety regulations, and may include periods of standing, walking, lifting, and moving stock throughout the facility.
JobType & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Old Lyme, CT.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.75 - $20.75/hr.
