Position Summary
The Project Engineer will support the successful delivery of a water treatment plant construction project in Marshalltown, Iowa. This role works closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, subcontractors, and design partners to manage project documentation, schedules, RFIs, submittals, cost tracking, and field coordination. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented construction professional looking to grow within heavy civil / industrial construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with day-to-day project management activities for a water treatment plant construction project
- Prepare, track, and manage RFIs, submittals, and project documentation
- Maintain accurate project records including drawings, specifications, logs, and reports
- Support project scheduling activities, including look-ahead schedules and progress tracking
- Assist with cost control, change management, and buyout support
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and design professionals
- Support field operations by working closely with the Superintendent to resolve constructability issues
- Participate in project meetings and assist with meeting minutes and follow-up items
- Ensure compliance with project safety, quality, and environmental requirements
- 1-4 years of experience in commercial, industrial, or heavy civil construction preferred
- Experience with water / wastewater treatment plant projects is a plus, but not required
- Familiarity with construction documents, drawings, and specifications
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar tools)
- Ability to work on-site in Marshalltown, IA, with coordination through the Johnston, IA office
