Position:
Laboratory Assistant
Location: 8325 Northwest 62nd Avenue, Johnston, IA 50131
Duration: 10+ Months (Possible Extension)
Work Type:
Onsite
Shift: Monday to Friday, 1st shift
Pay Rate: $23.50/hr
Description:This role provides hands‑on laboratory support for PCR‑based molecular workflows that enable the generation of reliable, high‑quality data in support of research testing. The position supports daily laboratory operations through sample handling, nucleic acid extraction, reagent preparation, and experimental setup. In addition, the role contributes to contamination control efforts and routine instrument upkeep while ensuring accurate documentation and maintaining data integrity.
Requirements:- Associate's Degree in Life Science (Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related field) or Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences (Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related field) is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (required)
- Pipetting experience (required)
- Sample collection and processing
- DNA/RNA extraction
- PCR based molecular biology techniques including qPCR, RT‑qPCR, and/or dPCR
