Greenhouse Technician: Plant & Lab Research

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist in the propagation, planting, watering, fertilization, and maintenance of greenhouse plants.

• Monitor and record temperature, humidity, light levels, and other environmental conditions to optimize plant growth.
• Conduct routine plant health assessments, identifying and addressing pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies.
• Perform laboratory experiments, including soil and water testing, plant tissue sampling, and data collection.
• Maintain and calibrate greenhouse equipment, such as irrigation systems, lighting, and ventilation controls.
• Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for plant handling, sanitation, and safety protocols.
• Assist researchers and scientists in carrying out experiments and trials related to plant biology and agriculture.
• Keep accurate records of greenhouse activities, document research findings, and prepare reports.
• Follow all safety and biosecurity protocols to prevent contamination and ensure a clean working environment.

Qualifications:

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Plant Science, Horticulture, Biology, Agriculture, or a related field preferred.
• Experience with controlled environment agriculture (CEA) or hydroponics is a plus.
• Knowledge of plant diseases, pests, and nutrient requirements preferred.
• Strong understanding of plant care, growth cycles, and greenhouse operations I na plus.
• Ability to perform lab tests, collect samples, and analyze plant health data.
• Proficiency in using scientific instruments, environmental monitoring systems, and lab equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data entry software.
• Must be able to work in humid or varying environmental conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive tasks.
• Flexible to work early mornings, evenings, or weekends, as required by greenhouse operations.
