Job Description
We are seeking a motivated Plant Transformation Lab Technician to support our gene editing technology development pipeline through plant transformation and tissue culture activities. This hands‑on laboratory role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and a commitment to maintaining accurate records and organized workflows.
Responsibilities- Assist technical personnel with routine laboratory operations, data collection, and information management in support of scientific research.
- Perform tasks according to established methods, standard operating procedures, and training provided by the work group.
- Proactively identify and resolve problems to ensure a safe and productive laboratory environment.
- Execute tasks efficiently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and detail.
- Laboratory skills in chemistry, biology, molecular biology, cell culture, microbiology, and biochemistry.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Plant Sciences, or a related field.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques and scientific principles.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in laboratory tasks.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and execution skills.
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with plant tissue culture and transformation methods in an industry setting preferred.
- Experience with light and fluorescent microscopy preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Self‑motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Positive attitude with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The role involves working in a laboratory setting that requires careful adherence to safety and procedural standards.
Job Type & LocationContract position based out of Johnston, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 – $22.00 per hour.
