Sales Consultant- Premise

Job Overview

Johnson Brothers is a leading family‑owned distributor of wine, spirits, and beer. The role involves growing an established customer base within an assigned territory through consultative sales, focusing on On‑Premise accounts (restaurants, bars, etc.) in the Ames/Ankeny areas.

• Territory management: ensure consistent customer contact, properly plan and execute sales initiatives, and handle all customer related issues promptly and courteously.
• Sales: understand products and pricing schedules, deliver effective sales presentations, achieve assigned company objectives, grow business, and identify and nurture new and undersold accounts.
• Resource utilization: use all available POS to enhance selling efforts and keep knowledge of all company deals, programming and initiatives.
• Servicing: follow necessary steps when making sales calls, perform reliable and consistent customer service to accounts, and engage in face‑to‑face interactions with customers.
• Administration: adhere to all company policies and procedures and handle all paperwork issues in a proper and timely manner.

• BA/BS college degree or related industry experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Goal‑driven, self‑motivated, disciplined, timely, and able to prioritize.
• Prior sales experience and/or prior wine and spirits industry sales preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; reliable transportation and proof of insurance.
• Local candidates preferred; no relocation package.
• Availability to work outside 8‑5 schedule, including early evening hours and occasional weekends.
• Ability to lift 54 pounds from the ground and above 60 inches.
• Must pass criminal background check and MVR.
