We are seeking an individual who is familiar with the construction industry and eager to collaborate with our team, manufacturers, and the local specification community—including architects, engineers, and lighting designers—to deliver top‑quality products, technical support, and exceptional service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, mutually beneficial relationships in the Des Moines market, establishing Mercer‑Zimmerman as the go‑to agency for lighting and controls solutions.
  • Product Expertise: Stay current with regular manufacturer trainings, updates, and sales calls to maintain a deep understanding of the innovative lines represented.
  • Product Demonstrations: Conduct engaging product trainings in the field or at manufacturer facilities to showcase our wide range of cutting‑edge lighting solutions.
  • Consultative Support: Serve as a trusted advisor, offering superior solutions tailored to design specifications, budgets, and timelines.

    Collaboration:

    Partner with the inside team to advocate for clients throughout the bidding process, submittals, order management, and installation phases.

Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of outside sales experience.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, design, engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Industry Expertise: Experience in the architectural or lighting design field is a plus.
