Greenhouse Technician
Join a dedicated team in supporting agricultural research through the cultivation and maintenance of wheat and other crops in controlled environments.
Responsibilities- Participate in pollination and harvesting processes for wheat in a controlled setting.
- Perform daily plant care tasks such as pollinating, harvesting, transplanting, watering, seeding, and handling seeds for various crops.
- Collect and prepare plant tissue samples for laboratory analysis, ensuring the integrity of large volumes of samples.
- Assist with research experiments, data collection, and maintain accurate records.
- Maintain greenhouse sanitation by appropriately disposing of regulated materials and waste.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and capability to learn internal research software.
- Capability to perform repetitive tasks and stand or sit for extended periods.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, horticulture, plant sciences, or a related field preferred.
- Two or more years of relevant experience preferred.
- Comfort working in warm, humid greenhouse conditions with year-round pollen exposure.
- Willingness to work with common chemicals and adhere to all safety guidelines.
The work schedule is Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The role involves working in warm, humid greenhouse conditions with exposure to pollen throughout the year.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Johnston, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
