The City of Johnston seeks a Seasonal Public Works Maintenance Worker to perform diverse tasks associated with the repair and maintenance of city streets, premises, and property of the municipality and the provision of scheduled and emergency services within the Public Works Department.

The position will include, but not be limited to:

Builds and sets forms for the pouring and finishing of concrete for curbs, gutters, and sidewalks, footings, catch basins, manholes, storm sewers; mixes, pours, and spreads concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials using hand and power tools.
Spreads and levels earth, sand and gravel using public works vehicles, hand and power tools; lifts, carries and holds materials, cleans tools, equipment, materials and work areas.
Cleans and repairs catch basins, manholes, culverts and storm drains using public works equipment, hand and power tools. Erects barricades, fences and rails to protect the public from hazardous conditions.
Clean and maintain Public Works equipment, buildings, grounds and city facilities
Operate light and medium-duty trucks with trailers, tractors, and hand tools as used in assigned work.
Maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years old
Must have a valid Iowa Driver's License
Drug Screen and Background check required
Position requires work to be performed in various outdoor environmental conditions
Steel-toed shoes are required

Hours and work schedule:

Up to 40 hrs per week. Possible over-time
M-F 6:00 a.m.

-2:30 p.m.
Mid May - Mid August - Potential for earlier start date and later ending date depending on season

Hourly Pay: $17-$21
