Principal Data Engineer - Risk & Finance Platform Architect

As the Principal Data Engineer for the Risk and Finance Technology team, you will be responsible for defining and leading the strategic direction for transforming Citizens’ Finance, Risk and Compliance Technology platforms. You will be working with our business partners, analysts and engineers to execute against the strategy. You will also represent the technology strategy and influence across the Enterprise Core Line of Businesses in investing on innovative products and solutions.

In addition, you will:

• Create the architecture and drive design, build and implementation of data solutions that power Risk and Finance
• Identify pain points in the current ecosystem and build the target state technology footprint for both operational and data platforms
• Influence the data management framework and ecosystem of the Big Data Platform; ensure departmental data needs are met and are consistent with the organizations architectural integrated design.
• Actively participate in/Lead design sessions and, where applicable, apply industry best practices
• Collaborate with technical colleagues, such as Architecture & Engineering colleagues and software engineers, to determine and translate user requirements into actionable data delivery
• Produce data patterns, solution design documents and create Architecture as Code in alignment with business objectives
• Contribute to support and enable automated data analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence projects
• Practice “Architecture as Code” and be hands-on, build working prototypes to demonstrate value and seek buy-in

Qualifications - External

• 10+ years of working experience in data engineering / data transformation / big data and solution architecture / other related
• A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, or related disciplines;
  Masters’ degree(s) preferred
• Strong understanding of risk and finance principles and business functions
• Experience handling big data, designing integrated data solutions using public cloud, AWS preferred
• Strong data domain knowledge and ability to translate business concepts into data solutions
• Proven track record of leveraging open-source capabilities such as Apache Spark, Apache Kafka or other streaming/messaging platforms
• Proven track record of connecting operational platforms to data capabilities
• Experience in building AI/ML solutions for Risk and Finance functions highly preferred
