Senior Underwriting Specialist

FM seeks a Senior Underwriting Specialist to lead complex commercial risk evaluation and support profitable portfolio growth. You will analyze financials, operations, and industry trends to assess risk, structure coverage, and set pricing within authority limits. Partnering closely with brokers and internal teams, you'll negotiate terms, drive retention, and maintain strong client relationships. You'll monitor portfolio performance, ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, and mentor junior underwriters while contributing to process and strategy improvements.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate complex commercial risks using financial, operational, and industry data to determine acceptability and pricing.
• Develop, negotiate, and structure policy terms, conditions, and endorsements within authority limits.
• Manage and optimize an underwriting portfolio to meet profitability, growth, and loss ratio targets.
• Collaborate with brokers, agents, and internal stakeholders to win and retain profitable accounts.
• Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, regulations, and company risk appetite.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior underwriters and contribute to training efforts.
• Use analytics and tools to monitor results, identify trends, and recommend underwriting strategy adjustments.
