Assistant Vice President -Hazard Underwriting Occupancy Specialist

FM seeks an Assistant Vice President High-Hazard Underwriting Occupancy Specialist to lead underwriting of complex, high-hazard commercial property risks. You will evaluate occupancies, construction, protection, and exposure details to set terms, limits, and pricing that align with risk appetite and profitability goals. Partnering with brokers, clients, and internal teams, you'll interpret engineering reports, modeling outputs, and loss trends, refine occupancy guidelines, mentor underwriters, and support portfolio oversight, referrals, and audit reviews in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite complex high-hazard commercial property accounts with emphasis on occupancy risk.
• Analyze construction, protection, and exposure details to determine risk quality and pricing.
• Develop and refine occupancy guidelines, tools, and best practices for underwriters.
• Collaborate with brokers and clients to structure terms, limits, and coverages.
• Review loss history, modeling outputs, and engineering reports to inform decisions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to underwriters on high-hazard occupancies.
• Ensure compliance with underwriting authority, company standards, and regulations.
• Monitor portfolio performance, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions.
• Participate in referrals, audits, and quality reviews for high-hazard accounts.
• Contribute to product, pricing, and appetite updates for high-hazard occupancies.
