About ZūmAt Zūm, we power safe, reliable transportation for students and communities. Our maintenance teams keep the fleet moving, and we’re adding a Diesel Fleet Systems Technician (Level II) to deepen our bench at a key site.

A Day in the Shop Picture your morning: you review overnight driver notes, run a quick test drive to validate a noise complaint, and hook up diagnostic tools to chase an electrical fault. Midday, you assist Tech I teammates on a differential and transmission rebuild while documenting parts usage. Before closing out the shift, you tidy your bay, complete PM checklists, and secure approvals so the vehicle can legally return to service.

What You'll Tackle Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs on steering, electrical, cooling, lubrication, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, transmissions, and oil/temperature/gas regulating components within your qualification level, adhering to all relevant Federal, State/Provincial, and local guidelines and requirements.

Assist Tech I’s with the rebuilding of engines, transmissions, and differentials as assigned by the manager.

Conduct test drives during Preventative Maintenance inspections to validate driver-reported issues; perform post-service test drives to confirm repair quality.

Arrange for and obtain required inspections/approvals of major repairs prior to releasing vehicles from the maintenance facility.

Identify and report additional maintenance needs discovered during assigned work, including items requiring a higher-qualification technician.

Complete assigned tasks from the manager or lead when supervised.

Accurately record time, parts, and all work performed on the appropriate forms.

Respond to road calls and execute on-the-road repairs as assigned.

Maintain a safe, clean, productive, and efficient work area in full compliance with applicable regulations and company housekeeping/safety standards.

Immediately advise the Lead Technician of unsafe maintenance conditions, practices, or any vehicle abuse.

Work the assigned shift and overtime as needed (AM/PM).How You’ll Succeed You’re a developing technician who thrives amid varied challenges. You own your workload, keep your documentation airtight, and learn quickly from senior technicians.

Qualifications

Basic2–4 years of medium/heavy truck fleet mechanic repair experience.

Diagnostic, Electrical, and A/C skills are a must.

Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment.

Previous fleet experience with familiarity across diesel and gasoline systems.

Recommended minimum hand tools for a Medium/Heavy-Duty Diesel Technician.

Sound judgment and decision-making skills.

You should be proficient in:
Diesel Engine Systems.

Preferred Valid CDL License (must be able to obtain within the first 90 days of employment).ASE Certification in brakes, suspension, engine, electrical, A/C, or Master School Bus and/or Master Truck Technician.
