This position does not qualify for benefits. Salary is based on experience and per our Extra Duty Salary Schedule Column III ($2,050)
Weld RE-5J School District is accepting applications for a Marching Band Assistant at Roosevelt High School. This is a seasonal, supplemental position.
Position PurposeThe marching band assistant instructor will work with the Director or Bands, instructional staff members and students to ensure a positive experience for students and successful performances. The position will accomplish this through varied instructional opportunities including rehearsals and performance events of the RHS bands as coordinated with the Director of Bands. The candidate will instruct students in proper technique, musicality, general effect, and coordinate large and small group rehearsal environments.
The marching band assistant will be in attendance at summer instruction (prior to the start of the school year), and designated after-school and weekend rehearsals and performances as needed by the Director of Bands. The marching band assistant instructor shall enforce and adhere to the policies, rules and guidelines of Weld RE-5J School District and the band program to which they are associated.

Experience:
- Must be experienced working with marching bands and varied student ensembles
- Demonstrated high level technique and pedagogy on instrument or applied area
- Ability to plan, instruct and lead sectional and individual instruction of student musicians
- Demonstrated management and leadership skills as an instructor
- Ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions
- Proven ability to carry an assignment to its completion with high level of professionalism
- Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks associated with the duties and responsibilities listed below.
- Certified music teacher, current college music education major or demonstrate a strong applicable background preferred but not required
- Attend all necessary rehearsals, performances, competitions and public appearances as communicated by Director of Bands during the course of the season, which may include summer, weekend and evening rehearsals.
- Evaluate, plan, and apply fundamental instruction based upon members' current and potential abilities accordingly and in collaboration with the Director of Bands.
- Work closely with the Director of Bands and other staff members to develop a highly effective and educational musical program that focuses on students development and performance standards of excellence.
- Manage any equipment necessary for rehearsals and performances including maintenance, repair and acquisition recommendations ensuring that students are properly equipped for rehearsals and performances
- Assist in recruiting potential members while retaining current members
- Other related duties, as assigned, to assist the Director of Bands prepare students for home games, parades, competitions and public appearances
- Follow all policies of Weld RE-5J School District and the band program to which they are associated
