System Technician

Overview

Job Title: System Technician I

Reports To: IT Field Operations Manager

FLSA Status: Salaried, Exempt

The System Technician I provides technical support for end users, systems, and network infrastructure. This role assists with troubleshooting, equipment deployment, routine maintenance, and infrastructure projects while working under general supervision.

• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and basic network issues.
• Provide onsite and remote technical support to end users.
• Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
• Assist with server, virtualization, and network maintenance tasks.
• Document service tickets, installations, and troubleshooting steps.
• Participate in maintenance windows, upgrades, and infrastructure projects.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to operational incidents as required.
• Travel to remote sites for installations, maintenance, and support.

• Windows 10/11 and Windows Server
• Active Directory and basic Group Policy tasks
• Microsoft Intune or similar endpoint management solutions
• Hyper-V or similar virtualization platforms
• Managed switches, wireless networks, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
• Ticketing and remote support tools

Required

• Basic understanding of PC hardware, Windows operating systems, and networking fundamentals.
• Ability to follow technical procedures and document work performed.
• Ability to work flexible hours, participate in an on-call rotation, and travel to remote locations.
• Valid driver’s license (if travel is required).

Preferred

• Technical certification, coursework, or equivalent hands-on experience in IT support or infrastructure.
• Uses organizational resources efficiently.
• Actively participates in daily and weekly team meetings.
• Demonstrates adaptability and a willingness to learn.
• Exercises sound judgment and effective decision-making.
• Follows company security, safety, and EEO policies.
• Reports unsafe conditions or IT security risks promptly.
• Office settings, server rooms, and field service locations.
• Exposure to noise from equipment and network devices.
• Occasional work in hot or cold environments and confined spaces.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) required in designated areas (e.g., gloves, ESD straps).

• Standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Bending, kneeling, and reaching in tight spaces.
• Occasional ladder use and ceiling or under-desk access.
• Manual dexterity for use of tools and mobile devices.
• Adherence to safety protocols during all physical tasks.
