Job Title: Meat Cutter

Reports to: Meat Manager

Position Classification: Hourly

Position Status: Full Time/Part Time

Pay Range: $20.00 - $24.00

Responsibilities
  • Consistently demonstrate Woods Supermarket D&E service and Hospitality 4 guidelines.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company standards.
  • Notify management of guest or teammate accidents or injuries.
  • Report all safety risks and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
  • Be respectful, courteous, and helpful to other teammates.
  • Stay current with all ads.
  • Understand the store’s layout and be able to take guests to products.
  • Perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Perform other miscellaneous tasks assigned by managers.
  • Follow proper food handling and safety protocols.
  • Ensure proper sanitation of department and equipment.
  • Follow all technical manuals for processing products, including label placement and packaging.
  • Update displays, cases, and other guest‑facing areas to showcase new items and promotions.
  • Prep, store, rotate and stock merchandise.
  • Prepare items per guest requests using proper equipment.
  • Inform guests of department‑specific specials and make recommendations when asked.
  • Provide guests with fresh products they have ordered and the correct portion size.
  • Use all equipment in the department according to company guidelines.
  • Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness. Review “sell by” dates and take appropriate action.
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note any discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
  • Follow all food safety guidelines.
  • Identify various cuts of meat.
  • Weigh, wrap, and package products in a clean, neat, and attractive package.
  • Assist guests at the counter or sales floor.
  • Break down, cut, and trim all meat products.
Work Environment

Inside work involves extreme variations in temperature, dust, and humidity from the back door, compressors, cooler, freezer, and preparation area. Some outside work may be required.

Qualifications
  • Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Basic mathematical ability.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Prior management experience.
  • Experience working in department‑specific areas.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
